Navy crew steals lobster pots and lobsters from fisherman
Karl Ek, a 36 year old Rhode Island lobster fisherman, found his pots missing last August a Navy submarine rescue ship pulled up the gear and removed about 50 lobsters before dumping the traps back. Navy investigators learned of the incident after the Petrel's return and a Washington Post report noted crew complaints. Ek estimated losses under 20 thousand dollars though Navy officials suggested possible reimbursement.
