City upholds appeal to deny zoning changes request
In Oberlin South Professor Street residents prevailed as the city council denied Firelands Retirement Center Inc. a four story 73 unit apartment plan. The vote opposed by council member William P. Devis affirmed zoning board limits, with opponents citing density and height variances including a fire tower elevator bulkhead. Firelands contends state law requires the tower and bulkhead, while opponents warn neighborhood character changes.
