Charter academy closes leaving 190 students uncertain
In Columbus about 190 students from kindergarten through 12th grade faced an abrupt closure of a downtown charter school after financial troubles. The management firm said students should report Monday to their district assigned public schools, while concerns rose over graduation credits and transfer of electronic class credits. Richland Academy and Innovative Learning Solutions cited unresolved finances and incomplete records as the cause, with the state blocking a $132,000 monthly payment. Records will be transferred on request and students may return to Columbus Public Schools if they choose.
