Ethanol tax changes boost Ohio highway funds
House Ways and Means Committee approved measures to redirect 2.5 cents of ethanol gas taxes back into the highway trust fund and replace a blender tax break with a similar credit. Ohio would gain about 150 million dollars annually, with 50 million from the first provision and 100 million from the credit swap. The plan, if approved by both chambers, would raise roughly 11.9 billion nationwide over 10 years and cut farm payments by 3.2 billion annually according to the Renewable Fuels Association.
