Midway Mall drops bid to lower property taxes
Elyria Joint Venture halted a tax appeal after analyzing county evidence showing a 42 percent 1994 reappraisal rise for two parcels. County records peg the mall at 37.7 million dollars, up from 26.5 million, with land around the site valued at about four dollars per square foot. The company had argued the property is worth less and shifted to selling land for 600 thousand dollars to Lone Star Steakhouse. The school board involvement is noted but not concluded.
