Columbia gas purchases labeled crazy at federal hearing
At a rare FERC public hearing in Columbus hundreds of Columbia Gas customers spoke for five minutes each about rising bills. Ohio politicians including Rep. Clarence Brown and Sen. Howard Metzenbaum attended, criticizing the company’s high priced gas sourcing while Columbia insists it buys Ohio gas where possible and southwestern gas to assure steady supply. The hearings, started Feb. 16 in Washington, will continue after the Columbus session.
