Central Highlands evacuation shocks Vietnam war effort
In Saigon the central highlands were abandoned as troops and civilians fled Pleiku and Kontum to coastal areas. The pullout followed Thieu orders after a 14 year war turning worst for anti Communist forces. The convoy stretched up to 60 miles with 80 000 residents moving toward safety as analysts warn of a possible eastward push toward the South China Sea.

Sandusky minister launches letter drive against kiddie lib patches
Baptist minister Dr. Russell Dennis of the Baptist Temple in Sandusky starts a campaign to protest cereal box patches on Raisin Bran. He plans to collect about 100 letters, already has 150, and will send them to General Foods President James Ferguson. Dennis calls the patches part of a pagan philosophy aimed at breaking up families and links it to women and gay liberation movements. He cites patches such as Dont Kid a Kid and Dont Trust Anyone over 27 as examples and asserts the movement seeks to separate children from home and Christian values.
