Coroner calls friendly fire death criminal and avoidable
In a Friday inquest in Oxfordshire a coroner ruled that the 2003 death of Lance Cpl Matty Hull in Iraq resulted from criminal, entirely avoidable friendly fire from a U.S. A-10. The verdict criticized pilots for not identifying the British convoy and noted the case exposed serious misconduct beyond self defense. Hull’s family welcomed the ruling as closing a four year wait.
