Explosion Cleans Out Wilkes Villa, Injuring Three At Elyria Complex
An early morning gas explosion at the Wilkes Villa complex in Elyria leveled part of an eight unit building, injuring three residents and leaving six families homeless. Police and fire crews found a chaotic scene at 114 and 116 Hodge Court. Three victims Warren Gilliam 38 Dorothy Smith 38 Isaac Salaam 27 were hospitalized with burns. Authorities suspect a gas leak but investigation continues with the state fire marshal en route. Damage estimated at 250000 dollars to the building.
