The CDC warned the 1989 90 flu season may be the worst in five years with A H 3 N 2 the dominant strain hitting older people who are less likely to be vaccinated. Medicare data show only 43 percent vaccinated for 1988 89 with many deeming themselves healthy or fearing side effects. The goal for 1990 is about 60 percent vaccination.
