County shifts aim to end towing and tame parking
Elyria Ohio County officials plan to exit the towing business and overhaul downtown parking. They will close Commerce Court to through traffic near the Justice Center, install gates, and reserve new spaces for staff and public use. Plans include new paved lots, public parking in the garage at a $3 to $5 daily rate, and possible purchase of additional downtown land. The county owns 614 parking spots and leases about 50, with repairs to the aging garage budgeted at 300,000 this year.
