Bridge Closure After 40 Ton Debris Hits Eastbound Span
A contractor lost control of a backhoe moving debris from a ravine below the Route 57 bridge over the Black River in Elyria. The debris struck the truss of the eastbound lanes, forcing a closure that could last beyond 24 hours. No injuries reported. Traffic diverted via alternative routes as inspectors assess damage and engineers consider repairs or a full rebuild.
