Cleveland March 14 Harvey DoD Goulder, a prominent attorney, nominated for mayor by acclamation today to run against Mayor Tom Jobnacn.
Socialists of Elyria announced a partial municipal ticket and formed a campaign committee at a meeting held at Joseph Wheeler’s home. Nominees include E. A. Aldrich for mayor, C. E. Knapp for council president, Joseph Wheeler for public service, and ward council nominees M. Sandrock, C. Ross, and H. E. Aldrich, with nine members present pledging to uphold the socialist platform.
The Cincinnati Times Star describes the Roudebush traction group purchasing the Wooster and Columbus turnpike from W C Compton for about 50000. A private right of way to Milford will be sold to the Cincinnati Milford and Eastern Traction Company, with bonds of 800000 and stock of equal value to be issued.
Washington report: Dr Hardin the attending physician to Justice Wim R Day says the judge had a fairly good night and his pneumonia condition is encouraging. The bulletin was issued this morning by the Scerris-McRas Press Association.

In Vicksburg Mississippi on March 14 Captain J I announces shotgun patrols will be set tonight along 240 miles of Northern Louisiana levees. McClellan, levee board president for the fifth Louisiana district, says similar patrols will be started by other levee boards across Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi to deter levee cutting. Armed men will be stationed every three miles to deter trespass and protect property, with orders to use force if needed. Meanwhile Mississippi River rise accelerates as floods loom, with gauges showing a sharp increase over the past 24 hours. The river near Cairo rises and waters push toward shore, threatening to flood areas unless defenses hold.
Case again centers on Mire. Mills divorce fate with prior settlements in neighboring courts. Now Mr. Mills has started divorce proceedings in Elyria with attorney G. F. Adams of Lorain. Mrs. Mills works for the Cleveland Dry Goods Co in Cleveland.
Burdick inquest opened with a large crowd kept from the courtroom by Judge Murphy. Mrs. Burdick and her mother wait in the ante-room while Dr. Holland testifies that evidence suggests Burdick was stripped and wounded with great force. A tuft of hair on the divan and blood findings point to a fatal 2 a.m. death.
John Wesley Shattuc died at his home in St. John Kansas on February 26. He was well known across the county and was a brother of congressman Shattuc of Hamilton County Ohio.
Frank Aongste, 42, former pastor of First Baptist, jailed on a charge involving a 18 year old housekeeper. Bail set at 3000 dollars as a preliminary step in the case. Proceedings center on alleged misconduct during the period in question.

Colonial Secretary Chamberlain landed at 9 amid heavy rain to a large crowd at the dock. The return visit from Cape Town was marked by enthusiastic greetings despite the weather. Contracts were let Friday to Hinkson and Halpin and W. S. Abbey for five new houses on West River Street opposite the fair grounds. All male members are asked to meet at the church tomorrow at 3 o clock for a matter of interest and importance.
Royal Templars will host a dinner and dance event on Tuesday evening March 17. Friends of the Order are cordially invited to attend this social gathering.
