Lorain County fugitive located in Canada after decade on run
Gilbert Acevedo, 50, once of Westlake, surrendered in London Ontario after years avoiding a one year Lorain County prison sentence for 1996 bad checks. He used the alias Robert Breuning while living with his wife and a juvenile. US marshal says Canadian authorities are investigating whether accomplices also crossed. Fingerprints confirmed his identity. Labor Department records link the Acevedos to a long running mail and wire fraud scheme with multiple firm names and tax avoidance.
