Antitrust review sought in hospital sale to Clinic
U S Rep Dennis Kucinich and Judiciary Committee chair Henry Hyde called for an antitrust review of the planned sale of St Michael Hospital to the Cleveland Clinic. Primary Health Systems plans to end inpatient care at St Michael while keeping some outpatient services as Mt Sinai in Cleveland and Mt Sinai East in Richmond Heights have closed. PHS has been in Chapter 11 since last March and said the DOJ had no objections during a three week review.
