March 13 reports say a strong storm swept the central states, killing at least six and causing extensive property damage in Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Buildings lost roofs, utilities were cut, and communications suffered as debris blocked streets.

The Exchange Club met at noon with fair attendance and was addressed by Mrs Stevens former president of the League of Women Voters of Elyria. She explained the League’s functions and purpose, stressing its absolute nonpartisan stance and goal to interest women in politics.

Columbus March 13 House leaders aim to finish state legislature work by mid April with three weeks more work and a two week recess for the governor to sign or veto bills. The bill to speed up returns by directing rural officials to report to the loved board and then by telephone to the secretary of state passed the House with one dissenting vote and moves to the governor after unanimous Senate approval. The McNamara bill allowing voters in line at closing time to vote also cleared the House and goes to the Senate. A proposed extra common pleas judge for Trumbull county failed to reach the constitutional majority. Senate inaction due to lack of a quorum paused other business. The constitutional amendments committee heard arguments on consolidating city and county governments where the combined population exceeds 100 000 and counties adopting home rule charters. Cincinnati officials opposed a bill requiring tax levies and bond issues to be approved or disapproved by the state tax commission upon petition of 10 taxpayers. J J Brown of the Indiana tax commission and J A Dyer of the Ohio Orange supported the measure.
Miss Ida M Tarbell will address the Woman's Civic Club meeting tomorrow at three o'clock in the auditorium of the First Congregational church. Her subject will be The Remaking of the World. She is recognized for insights into social and industrial issues from studies begun over twenty years ago for The History of The Standard Oil Company.
John Thome aged 52 died yesterday at his North Ridge Avon home after a long illness. He was a gardener by trade, survived by his wife Ethel and ten children, with three sisters and several brothers. Funeral services will be held at Marys church Avon, with burial in Ridgeville. A separate civil case mentions 4200 paid for stock, and a baby Parvas infant of Mr. and Mrs Frick Panzat died at 27 West Paver Street after a brief illness. visiting nurse Ella McCarthy was appointed in Lorain on March 12.
Edward C. Fox, an anonymous letter writer who threatened President Harding over payment and accused officials and his former wife of misdeeds, was to be arraigned in Federal court on the threat charge. He is believed mentally unbalanced and to be sent to a hospital for the criminal insane near Washington, D. C. Fox had priorly been an inmate at the institution and discharged as cured, described as a dangerous poison pen writer.

Clerk Otto Mischka protests lack of township input and cites Ohio code limiting township relief duties to residents outside city limits. They threaten injunctions to protect township financial interests and urge court action if needed.
Marion March 13 a seven year old girl Eveanor Tavs died after being crushed by a heavy object on a street rear Falcon Delaware, Cardington. The girl was the daughter of Mrs Bal Wiehroof Deirmt and lived with her grandmother Mrs Delightec in Cardington.
Albany March 13 Supreme Court Justice Elis J Staley ruled the Anti Saloon League a political committee under New Yorks corrupt practices act. Five Troy citizens had sought to force disclosure of receipts and expenditures in election campaigns tied to the leagues prohibition efforts.
Arthur Charles Jackson aged 45, youngest son of Mrs Helen Jack, died at his brother Preds home 4421 Franklin Ave Cleveland after a six day pneumonia illness. Born in Elyria he worked in a meat market before moving to Cleveland where he was in wholesale meat business with his brother. Funeral at his brother’s home Thursday noon then 2:30 at Sudro Funeral Home. Burial at Ridgelawn Cemetery beside his mother.
Neliig Wasenda of Lorain has filed a suit against American Life Insurance Co of Detroit. She alleges her brother Mike Makcerenk took out a life policy for her benefit worth 4500. He died last November and the company has failed to pay after proof of death was filed.
A Cleveland case centers on Harriet Mapeamer Martian, a Co. school teacher, arrested on embezzlement charges connected to alleged swindling of a teacher friend. Warrant details and local investigations describe the two suspects as closely linked in the alleged fraud.

J. P. White, president of the Sandusky Kiwanis club, will address Elyria Kiwanis on “Let’s Be Happy” at the regular meeting Thursday March 18. Over 20 representatives from the local club, including the Kiwanis bowling team and orchestra, will accompany President White to Elyria.
Prohibition officers White and Jones raided Mikervie’s Drink Parlor on West avenue near the railroad, finding liquor and several patrons. Proprietor Joe Mikervic and bartender Charles Jap Zander fought off officers, then were arrested. Mikervic charged with pointing firearms and illegal liquor possession and held on a 2.1 million bond. Zander charged with illegal liquor possession on 1,099 bond. Other local cases include Louis Mashinski fined $300 for illegal liquor possession and Timberman’s appeal ruling upholding a bribe conviction from Lorain.
