Syndex reshapes seven superstations hit by new rule
The FCC syndex rule effective Jan 1 harms small superstations while enlarging profits for giants like TBS WGN and WWOR. TBS adds subscribers and leads in ad revenue. WGN and WWOR gain, while WPIX KTLA and KTVT lose subscribers as others shift schedules or drop forbidden programs. Baseball remains the core appeal, with each station carrying a local team and blackouts complicating access.
