Transportation experts urge intelligent rate policy and private enterprise
A 50year veteran Andrew H Brown warned Lorain County Transportation Club members that rates must be paired with tonnage and competitors' levels. He stressed that adequate transportation under private enterprise supports America's economy and living standards. About 130 traffic managers and trucking and rail representatives attended the Spring Valley Country Club event marking the club's 10th anniversary.

Eleven area contractors submitted 55 bids on sanitary storm sewer and water line work. bids on six projects were opened Tuesday. Stephen Bennett, 20, of 283 North Abbe Road, was charged with a stop sign violation at Hilliard and Abbe Roads about 7 15 p m yesterday and cited to court Monday.

Lorain County Agricultural Society directors eyed improvements for the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington. Truck Mishap: Tire Blows Then Pole Collision Near Amherst
A truck driven east on Rt 113 by Charles R Trottier 32 of 689 South Lake St Amherst veered off the left side and overturned against a utility pole breaking it off. Trottier was not hurt and there were no arrests noted. The crash occurred about a mile west of South Amherst at 4 20 p m per the State Highway Patrol. Also reported by Elyria Post an accident in Exe County on West River Rd a mile and a half south of Vermilion Wednesday evening involved Edmund J Kubischke 47 R D 1 Vermilion whose pickup left the road and into a snowdrift. He was not hurt with no further injuries reported.
