Blacks plan national political convention in Gary Ind
Black voters from Ohio's 13th District will be represented at the National Black Political Convention in Gary Indiana. About 201 Ohio delegates, drawn from Cleveland seminar work and led by Rep Louis Stokes, aim to push a national agenda to Democratic and Republican leaders this summer. The gathering includes NAACP and Black Panther participants with plans to balance age gender and background among delegates. Mayor Richard Hatcher says the convention boosts black political activity despite costs and a $25 registration. Baraka helped steer nationalist influence into the event.
