Universal Postpones Patrick the Great Release Amid War
Universal Pictures delayed releasing Patrick the Great starring Donald O’Connor to late summer to avoid delaying his wartime service. Executives reasons include protecting O’Connor’s box office value and time in service, with industry peers noting shelving habits. The piece also recalls anecdotes from Hollywood figures and readers’ memories about war and film industry quirks.
