Mexico Rebels Advance as Government Mobilizes Air Power
General Anacleto Lopez reported three rebel troop trains at Canitas station and a fourth en route during a flight over insurgent territory. The government predicted Canitas as the next battle scene unless rebels retreat to Torreon. Advancing rebel forces reach Culliacan en route to Mazatlan, defended by federals receiving reinforcements. The Cailles administration aims civilian control while mobilizing about eighteen thousand troops at Iravato. Federal aviators from Mazatlan fled the front yesterday but escaped injury as reinforcements arrive and defections remain unlikely. The war ministry plans forty airplanes for reconnaissance and focalizing operations while pursuing rebel general Jesus Aguirre in the Isthmus area.
