Chicago Firefighters End 23 Day Strike With Agreement
Chicago firefighters voted unanimously to accept an interim back-to-work contract ending a 23 day strike that saw 22 deaths citywide. Mayor Byrne approved terms through December 31 with a safety clause and a five member fact finding board to negotiate remaining issues, plus potential binding arbitration if unresolved by September 1.

UKIAH Calif UPI Jurisdiction says an accomplice of Kenneth Parnell in the Valentine’s Day abduction of a boy may have been deceived by the ex convict. District Attorney Joe Allen disclosed 12 search warrants in the search for the unidentified man. Timmy White age 5 described a man with Parnell under hypnosis. Investigators say Parnell recruited tavern pals to help him. Steven Stayner 14 led to the arrest of Ervin Murphy 38 at Yosemite. Murphy pleaded innocent to kidnapping and related charges with bail set at 50000 and preliminary hearing April 3.
