Train Hits Test-Drive Car In Berea. Couple Die
A Berea tragedy left Arthur F Lade and Josephine Lade dead after their test-drive 1977 Ford Pinto stalled on tracks at Front Street. The Conrail freight train, traveling 35 mph, struck the vehicle as warnings flashed and the horn sounded. The Lades, residents of Olmsted Township, were en route to cross when the car stopped on double tracks and was hit. The engineer was Robert J Russell of Sylvania Ohio. The Lade family survivors include three adult children. Funeral arrangements were not announced.
