Court action sought to make parents pay for care of two children
County Commissioner Oscar G Dunn announced a probe showing both parents in two feeble minded cases earn substantial incomes yet contribute nothing to their children's care. One child, in Mrs Gertrude Spitters private home since Oct 2 1942 at $2 a day, costs the county, while the other, placed April 18 1943 at the same rate, has a father at American Ship building Co earning over $80 a week. Dunn said a third case with a child heir to an estate also receives county care with no parental payment. The matter will be referred to Prosecutor Wickens for possible action. Dunn said he discussed with state welfare officials and two of four children now in county care will be admitted to a state institution in Columbus this month.
