West Coast quake rattles Bay Area towns
A sharp tremor struck the San Francisco Bay area at 2:30 A M local time, waking residents in Berkeley Alameda Oakland and San Francisco. No serious damage is reported though alarms rang across banks and jewelers as police fielded a flood of calls. The quake, localized along the Diablo Fault with Point Bonita as a center, was felt as far south as Pasadena and is the second in the area within a week. Some merchandise toppled in E Cerrito and Richmond stores, but buildings largely remained intact.

Two fatal crashes on Lake Road and in Bay Village area
Two people died in Lorain County incidents over the weekend. Jake Kilb, 54, of Lake Road, was struck by a car along Lake Road near Rivng property and died after being taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The other fatality occurred after a stolen truck weaving at high speed led to a crash near Vermilion. 17-year-old Joseph Kolingowski of Cleveland died from a broken neck as the vehicle crashed into a New York Central Railroad abutment. Police pursued the stolen vehicle from Bay Village to Vermilion. six shots were fired, but no one else was injured. A separate accident on Route 10 near LaPorte Injury to Steve Simon’s wife.
