Elyria board eyes a possible cut of one or two weeks in the 1932-33 term as tax collections run about 80 percent of last year, risking a projected end-year shortage near 72 000 dollars. No action yet. district awaits further tax reports before deciding.
The Elyria Board of Education continued support for student aid through the City Council of Parent-Teacher Associations by allotting 500 for clothing and shoes for the coming month. The program is reorganized under a committee led by Mrs C D Redding after Mrs J C Robbins resignation. Oscar Perry reports 161 shoe pairs issued since February 15 with ongoing demand. The board seeks clarity on transport workers legal responsibility for children to the Franklin School station and approves submitting 11,900 from relief bond funds for 1905 to county commissioners.
The Elyria High School concert scheduled for Friday night is postponed indefinitely. Also postponed are the Lake Erie High School Music Festival set for March 18 and the Lake Erie League extempore speaking contest planned for March 17. Lancaster Ohio March 8 forest Myers 15 of Zanesville and Michael Zava 16 escaped from the boys industrial school. Zava was captured within eight hours. They earlier stole a gun from instructor James Stromstead and held up a night watchman.
Elyria Board of Education considers paying teachers by scrip checks drawn on local bank deposits if current payroll restrictions remain. The plan, discussed after a Sunday meeting, would issue about 1 800 checks across 1800 staff with 10 checks per person, but forms are not printed and state federal plans are awaited.

The casket rests at City Hall before a 24 hour lying in state and a public funeral at Chicago Stadium followed by burial at Bohemian National Cemetery.

Washington March 8 All Federal Reserve Banks are being instructed to aid member banks in carrying on the limited activities permitted under the banking holiday. The instructions have already gone to the New York and Richmond banks and the remaining ten banks will receive them today.
