Carmine Caridi defends innocence after Oscars joke
Carmine Caridi, 84, says FBI cleared him and he never faced charges after being expelled from the Academy for sharing screeners. He criticizes Jimmy Kimmel’s comparison to Harvey Weinstein and plans to discuss his case on a future show. He notes he loaned screeners to a friend, who duplicated them for sale, leading to Sprague’s later conviction. Meanwhile Terry Bryant was arrested for grand theft after boasting about Frances McDormand’s Oscar trophy at an Academy party.
