Civil War history fair and community events in Wellington
Wellington Civil War History Club hosts an American Military History Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 23 at Wellington High School gym. The event features static displays videos living history demos and a bake sale with proceeds supporting the club. Also upcoming are ballroom dancing at Wellington First Congregational Church and an FCCLA Easter Bunny event at the high school with limited tickets.

Akron man Philip F George Jr, 43, received a 25 year sentence after being convicted on eight of 11 counts for running an illegal instant bingo operation. Prosecutors alleged some proceeds were diverted to Middle East terrorist groups, though defense argued he was a dupe. The scheme, active 1998 to 2000, netted over 50 million dollars shared among George, subordinates, and tavern operators.
