An early morning blaze at 1816 Long Avenue in Lorain killed sisters Laurie Dockery age 5 and Mary age 6. Their mother Hattie Dockery 31 and younger brother David 9 escaped. fire investigators searched for cause as fire watch remained.
Cleveland attorney Robert Cikraji filed a $50 million suit in U S District Court on behalf of 29 furloughed Lorain County Fazio's employees naming Fazio's union Local 880 and officials as defendants. The complaint seeks a restraining order, escrow of new hire dues, decertification, a new election, and alleges age discrimination under a contested area contract.
Dr. Anthony Gyamfi allegedly injected glutaraldehyde into veteran Miami Herald photographer Bob East during cancer surgery. Nurses recall an unlabeled vial and a knotted glove containing spinal fluid leading to rapid brain death. Doctors described the case as bizarre and tragic as East remained on life support while family requests were considered.
