Rape case at Big Dan's tavern in Fall River trial unfolds
In Fall River Massachusetts the Big Dan's tavern rape case enters its first year with six defendants. A bartender Carlos Machado and New Bedford officers testified about the night of March 6 1983. The 22 year old woman identified three men including Machado and Virgilio Medeiros and Jose Medeiros. Vieira and Silvia faced as yet unidentified suspects. The woman said Vieira and Silvia assaulted her on a pool table while others cheered. Vieira claimed he arrived after the incident.
