Rhodes to launch petition drive for four ballot measures
Ohio Governor James A. Rhodes said he will mount an initiative petition drive to place his four proposals on the November ballot after the General Assembly failed to act by the deadline. He aims to collect more than 300,000 signatures by August and will push the issues in their original form with additional programs on energy and housing loans. He criticized the legislature for not doing the job and vowed to take the fight to the people, predicting strong support from unemployed Ohioans as warm weather starts.
