In Inglewood California the Cleveland Force defeated the Los Angeles Lazers 4-1 to extend their winning streak to four and preserve a slim lead over Pittsburgh and Baltimore in the MISL Eastern Division. Louie Nandhoff opened the scoring at 1 51 of the third period on a Peter Millar assist. Vic Davidson extended the margin at 1 23 of the fourth on a power play setup from Craig Allen. Drew Ferguson sealed it at 9 57 of the fourth after a George Nanchoff feed. John Victor contributed a ninth goal for Haaskivi, whose chase toward 300 career MISL points continues. The Lazers' lone goal came late in the second period via Batata. Sobieski earned the win and improved to 15-4. Haaskivi nears 300 career MISL points. Bernie James is suspended for one game. The Force travel to Kansas City next.

Hosket to speak at Hall of enshrinement banquet
Former basketball star Fat Hasket will headline the Elyria Sports Hall of Fame 13th annual enshrinement banquet May 17 at DeLuca's Place in the Park. A 1968 Olympic gold medalist with the United States team, Hasket led Ohio State in scoring and national prominence, later brief NBA play, and joins a stellar speaker lineup including Nick Mileti and Woody Hayes.

Reese Ferrell to join mates in Baseball Hall of Fame
Pee Wee Reese and Rick Ferrell were named Sunday to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee. Reese, a Dodgers shortstop from 1940-58, and Ferrell, a catcher with the Browns Red Sox and Senators from 1929-47, will be inducted August 12 in Cooperstown alongside Harmon Killebrew Luis Aparicio and Don Drysdale.
