The Lorain County Regional Planning Commission will disband and be replaced by an 11 member county operated planning commission in the spring. RPC executive director Richard McGinnis will retire March 31 and six other staffers are laid off. The end of the RPC depends on village and city approvals and a final RPC executive committee action. A transition committee will negotiate with county officials to wind down projects and transfer assets. The new commission will have eight members appointed by the county commissioners plus the three commissioners themselves. The RPC has 25,485 in dues and a 50,000 county commitment to cover layoffs.
