Emergency medicine becomes recognized doctor specialty
A new specialty, emergency medicine physician, is nearing final approval by ABMS and CME. The field trains for immediate recognition and care of acute illness and injury, directing patients to follow up care and teaching emergency care. It emerges from decades of neglect and expands hospital and ER roles.
