Hunger Strike at Minnesota Reformatory Believed Broken
About 1,000 of 1,200 prisoners at the Minnesota Reformatory participated in a hunger strike demanding higher pay faster parole action and longer visiting hours. Meluch Indicted Secretly for Perjury in Killings
Joseph Meluch, 28, once convicted of manslaughter in his young bride’s death, was secretly indicted by a grand jury for perjury. Four Indicted For Blackmail In Cleveland Gang Case
Grand jury returned 17 indictments naming 17 persons. Guiseppe Guzzo and Tony Ciarcia of Cleveland indicted for extorting 3960 from Frank DeFazio of Elyria after a staged fake shooting. They await arraignment with $20,000 bonds. Two other gang members, Alberto Anello and Bruno Carasaniti, already jailed for similar crimes. Additional indictments include robbery at Oberlin gas station by Olds and Ganter, narcotic charges against Jean Morgan, and other minor counts. Jury inspected jail and set arraignment for Saturday.
