Meyers of 23.9 Huron Street dies after a long illness following a complication. Survived by daughters Louie and Otha Meyers and other relatives. Born in Baden and a resident of the area for over twenty years. Services at St Agnes Church will be held at 9 a.m. Interment at Norwalk.

Polish Church Groundbreaking in Columbus

Ground was broken Sunday afternoon at 3 30 for Holy Cross Catholic church to be built at West avenue and 14th street for a new Polish organization. Rev Father Joseph L Kuta blessed the ground and will be pastor. Work to start immediately by United States Engineering Co of Cleveland. The church seats six hundred. the school four rooms plus a hall for 450. There are 149 Polish families in the city. Church councilmen include L Smithkowski J Karmilowics A Novak and Mr Kaczmarek. Father Ruta grew up in Berra and was educated in Cleveland, previously pastor in Toledo where he built St Stanislaus church and school.

Inhumane Slayers to Repent Twice Weekly for Life

Henry D Burns, who killed his wife Hazel Burns near Mentor Ohio last October, pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment with two days weekly in solitary confinement and three days weekly at hard labor. The judge called the crime brutal and shocking. Selection of a jury had begun on three counts of murder when the plea ended the trial.

Congress Ends Meet Until December

Washington march 5 the 67th congress adjourned and lawmakers began an extended vacation to return in December. Fifteen senators and 126 representatives left seats as new members arrive. party balances shift with republicans maintaining control but reduced margins. Amherst Man Is New Teachers President

A Lorain County Teachers Institute reorganization occurred at Lorain technical high school with city and country educators. The change renames to Lorain County and Teachers Institute, adopts a new constitution and by laws, and calls for officers to be supervised by county superintendents. A plan to seek support from the National Education Association and Northeastern Ohio Teachers Association was adopted, with a recommendation that each district member join.
