January incomes barely rise as spending drops
The Commerce Department reports January personal income up 0.1 percent the smallest gain in six months and consumer spending down 0.5 percent the largest drop in over three years. Incomes totalled 6.25 trillion while spending was 5.01 trillion. Weather and a government shutdown delay affected December and January figures.
