Ridgeville hires architects to plan recreation center
North Ridgeville City Council agrees to hire Finkel & Finkel Inc to draft preliminary plans for a recreation center. The Parks and Recreation Commission selected the Lorain County Community College designer after reviewing about 30 proposals. Financing may rely on outside funding and a potential operating levy or bonds with a levy under consideration for the November ballot.

Fight with ex-boyfriend leaves Lorain woman hurt
A 40 year old Lorain woman remained in fair condition at Lorain Community Hospital with a broken rib and collapsed lung after a west side residence fight Tuesday night. Police say she fought with a former boyfriend, smashing wine glasses and striking him with a high heel in the doorway as she fled.

Stole to join friend in jail, Lorain man says
A 20-year-old Lorain man told police he shoplifted at Fazio's in South Lorain to get arrested and join a friend in jail. He was charged with shoplifting and assault after scuffling with an assistant manager at about 6 30 p m at 4111 Pearl Ave The manager sustained a small cut and injuries from the fight and later broke switches and knobs from the man’s car. The case was referred to the city prosecutor.

Ohio House approves guard tag license plates bill
The Ohio House passed a bill 91 to 2 allowing Ohio National Guard members to buy special identification license plates for their vehicles. Sponsored by Rep. John Bara, the plates will recognize guard duties in emergencies though designs are not yet created. Members pay regular plate fees plus 7.50 for the extra cost. the measure advances to the Senate.
