NYC Road Fight On With OHD Proposed Rt 38 Widening
Deputy director E L Toberen announced a March 25 hearing in Ashland with New York Central Railroad about a 1,950,000 widening of Rt 38 from Rt 113 to north of North Fudgeville Rd. The hearing precedes possible legal action to compel railroad funding. Disagreement centers on railroad payment for overtrack construction. Most land acquisitions are complete. The project, proposed since 1938, would make Rt 38 a four lane, grade separated highway between Rt 113 and North Ridge.
