Patent damper cuts heat loss in home oil furnaces
Strongsville inventor Shekhar Chakravarti Warren Delancey of Elyria and Michael Haydn of LaGrange patent an automatic air inlet damper for oil furnaces. A flexible shaft coupling closes the inlet when the burner stops, preventing warm air from escaping the chimney and saving homeowners money. The device, driven by centrifugal force, is built from plastic and steel and may reduce heat loss by 14.2 to 5 percent depending on appliance.

Shareholder Democracy Act Proposed to curb hostile takeovers
Leigh B. Trevor of Jones Day outlines a federal remedy to limit blitzkrieg style takeovers. The plan requires shareholder approval by both firms, public impact statements, and a 60 day window for informed ballots. Federal action would align with Ohio and other states.
