Aged can contribute much to society says Kaplan
Jerome Kaplan executive director of Mansfield Memorial Homes told about 125 people at the Lorain County General Health District annual meeting at Firelands High School that older residents can remain functional and contribute through wisdom stories and judgment. He urged shifting funds from poor farms to in home programs and noted that most people age 63 to 75 are older, with about 20 percent over 70 needing intensive care. He said urban and rural aged share similar problems and that aid is more available in densely populated areas. Dr Marion Fisher presided at the dinner before the advisory council meeting.
