Trade fright as Trump tariffs spark stock selloff
Wall Street erased gains as President Trump announced 25 percent steel and 10 percent aluminum tariffs next week. The S&P 500 fell 36.16 points to 2677.67, the Dow dropped 420.22 to 24608.98, and the Nasdaq slid 92.45 to 7180.56 as markets priced higher inflation and potential trade retaliation. European Union warned of firm retaliation, while some sectors led by steelmakers moved higher on tariff news.

Kroger will stop selling guns to anyone under 21 at its owned stores including Fred Meyer, expanding beyond federal law after the Parkland school shooting. The move follows similar steps by Walmart and Dick’s Sporting Goods as Georgia lawmakers retaliate against Delta over NRA ties.
