Car trainer crash leaves trunk lid as sole clue

Ruth A. Mocarski of Brook Park struck by train on Route 63 near Lorain Grafton Institution. She fled the scene but officers tracked her down via a license plate left on the trunk lid. Firefighters recovered only the lid at the site as the car was dragged away.

Elyria mother sues day care for 100000 over abuse claims

An Elyria mother files a suit seeking 100000 from a local day-care center alleging her children aged 3 8 and 10 were abused by teacher Sandy Murphy 50 of La Grange. The suit names Walter Sieg Republican candidate for county commissioner and Murphy as defendants and seeks 25000 for medical expenses. Murphy has pleaded not guilty to nine counts of child endangering.

Westwood 7th grader wins district spelling bee title

Elyria Westwood Junior High seventh grader Tom Moran won the South District Chronicle-Telegram Spelling Bee at McCormick Middle School. He defeated Justin Flatt of Elyria's First Baptist Christian School after correctly spelling rescind following antiquarian miss by Flatt. Moran, 13, celebrated with teachers and family, calling the win a first for his school.

Firewall becomes focal point in Dole comeback in SC primary
