Justice hopeful urged to drop judge title from campaign
An Ohio Supreme Court candidate must stop using the title judge in campaign materials. A three judge panel found former 11th District Court of Appeals Judge William O'Neill cannot prefix his name with judge since he is not currently serving. The order targets his campaign literature calling him Judge William M. O'Neill. O'Neill faces Fanon Rucker in the Democratic primary with the winner to challenge Justice Robert Cupp in November. The panel concluded the title violates the Ohio Judicial Code of Conduct.
