Shooting suspect sought in Elyria man’s death
Police probe a fatal shooting on Furnace Street with Omar Ward identified as the deceased. Ward died from gunshot wounds to the neck, hips, and arm at MetroHealth Medical Center. Investigators have yet to charge anyone and interview witnesses as they pursue leads.

Elyria reports Thomas Truelson Jr again seeks judicial release from a two year sentence for disposing of his newborn son in a rock filled duffel bag and dumping the body in a water filled quarry in 1999. He faces a March 26 hearing before Common Pleas Judge Edward Zaleski as his appeal continues. The mother Jessica Coleman, who stabbed the baby after birth at age 15, serves six years and has appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court.

South Lorain County Spelling Bee heats March 2 2007
Seventy seven seventh and eighth graders from 12 Lorain County schools compete in the South Preliminary Bee at Midview West Elementary Grafton with 16 advancing to the March 9 North Preliminary at Avon Heritage North Elementary. Diesel spill on Henderson Bridge after crash near Lorain
Several gallons of diesel spilled along the Henderson Bridge when a car collided with a dump truck. Firefighters plugged storm drains and spread absorbent material as the Ohio EPA US Coast Guard and Lorain County EMA were notified. Street crews later added sand for traction.
