Discover Avon links new residents with local groups
Avon residents and city clubs gathered at Avon High School for Discover Avon a four year old effort to pair newcomers with civic groups. Organizers say the event helps people meet clubs like the Lions Club Garden Club and Historical Society while countering boredom and encouraging involvement. About 1 000 letters were sent and over 200 attendees typically turn up with families hoping to find activities for themselves or their kids.
