President Ford urges a two minute nationwide bell ringing at 2 p m EDT on Bicentennial Fourth of July. He proclaims Americans should join July 2 for an extended period of celebration thanksgiving and prayer for the nation s future safety and happiness as the United States enters its third century.
Ohio State Highway Patrol leads a statewide probe into massive shortages in auto tag accounts totaling about 1.5 million dollars across 31 local deputy registrars. Gov Rhodes ordered the inquiry April 1 and officials say more prosecutions are likely as cases such as the Stamper and Gosney shortages are pursued. The patrol, under Donald Cook, acknowledges the investigation has yet to yield promised revelations.
Palestinian hijackers released 47 hostages including 33 French, two Americans and one Canadian at Entebbe Airport as Israel and France weigh responses to ransom demands for remaining captives. Two Americans freed. 70 Israelis among captives. United Arab relations and emergency sessions follow with Uganda mediators present. Air France to Nairobi to repatriate freed hostages. Rabin stresses safety responsibility while denying concessions to terrorists.

Charles Warren head ranger oversees final sprucing of the Caley National Wildlife Woods as the oradte wildlife refuge is dedicated at 2 30 p m tomorrow within the Lorain County Metropolitan Park district. Land belonged to the late John E Caley farmer and conservationist. Story on Page F 2.
Ambulance operator Joan Majoras says he told Elyria officials he will stop responding to emergency calls immediately. Majoras is the only fulltime ambulance service in Elyria and will continue to handle scheduled nonemergency calls.
Lorain County Community College faculty earn about 3500 more per year in salary and fringe benefits than the national average for two year colleges. The 1975 76 study by the American Association of University Professors shows LCCC total compensation around 18200 for 91 faculty members with associate professors at 21880, assistants at 14500 and instructors at 14208.
