Ohio awaits ruling on whether 1984 elections use new or old districts
Ohioans must wait into mid July to learn if this year's U S House races use current districts or newly drawn ones. Three federal judges will consider briefs after the Supreme Court upheld the lower court ruling that the districts are unconstitutional. They will decide whether to allow a current schedule or require new boundaries and a potential second primary, a process that could cost millions and disrupt absentee ballot timetables.

Lorain County Board factions clash over levy giveback
More than a week after the Lorain County Mental Retardation Board voted to cut its levy by 800000, factions on the 169 Board promote their positions at Murray Ridge staff meetings. Board member Ralph Miller opposed the cut, while Bowdler Grundy and Bennett defended it. Corts claimed Miller attended to rebut last week, Miller said he wandered in accidentally and created a quorum, and Murray Ridge officials said the meeting was informational and coincidental.
