Storms knock out power across Lorain County
About 25 000 in Lorain County lost power as two waves of storms moved through. Lorain and Elyria saw outages with many traffic lights dark. By 10 p m about 289 customers remained without power. Cleveland area had 31 000 outages. Lorain Fire reports 16 weather related calls over five hours.

More than 60 000 people attended the Lorain International Festival bazaar over the weekend, far below coordinator Ralph Bruening's 85 000 to 90 000 goal. Attendance dropped to 9 000 to 10 000 on Sunday amid scorching heat with brief showers and a thunderstorm. Honey Walorz, 90, from the Boston area, was among the hardy attendees.

Titan marching band debuts at Lorain International Festival Parade

Fire damages vacant Elyria home for second time
A vacant two story house at 417 West River Road in Elyria burned again Sunday night after a 10:30 p.m. call. Firefighters from three stations and a tower truck fought the blaze with water from the roof. the second floor was fully involved. No cause yet. Fire Prevention Bureau investigates. no one in custody per police reports.

Lorain Man Shot in Suspected Drive‑by
Lorain police said Juan Aponte, 26, was shot in the upper left thigh while walking on Oakdale Avenue near West 23rd Street in a possible drive‑by. He identified no suspects and declined to name the shooter as witnesses were interviewed Sunday night.
