Yemen coup ousts Rabaya Ali aided by Cuban advisers
Beirut based pro leftist paper Al Liwa quoted a diplomatic Aden report saying 600 Cuban advisers and pilots helped South Yemen’s pro Moscow forces win this week’s ouster of President Salim Rabaya Ali. Rabaya Ali was executed by firing squad after his removal on Monday. The report cited Cuban military influence and denied the defense minister’s role in tipping the balance.

Soviet Cuban power play in Aden clash described
The report portrays Cuban advisers and 6000 foreign troops aiding a Somalia style assault on Robaya Ali at the presidential palace with MiG bombing. Abdel Fattah Ismail is said to be seriously wounded and airlifted to Moscow after Soviet and Cuban intervention checked the fighting. Western sources question the 6000 figure, noting Aden as a staging point for troops and advisers.
